Elementary Reimagine Launch FAQs
-
What is the daily elementary schedule?
Students are scheduled for both synchronous and independent work over the six hour school day. In general students will log in for live instruction at two or three points during the day. During live instructional time all of the subjects students typically experience will be offered:
- Language Arts
- Math
- Science
- Socials Studies
- Special area classes (library, physical education, music, art, etc)
- Support (special education, intervention, enrichment, etc.).
In response to parent feedback this summer, an effort is being made to coordinate core academics as much as possible so that content will be delivered to students before 1:30pm each day and to have specials and support later in the day when possible.
-
Will the elementary schedule have my students on a “screen” all day long?
No. Students are not expected to be online and signed at all times. It is anticipated that students will participate in lessons with their teacher (synchronously) and can then work without being logged in (and therefore working asynchronously) during different parts of the day.
-
How does the school day start each day during online learning (for A2 Classroom Connect and A2 Student Link)?
School begins each day with two steps:
- Sign into the new Schoology Learning Management System
- Click on the class meeting link
The graphic below shows where the class meeting link is located on the Schoology page.
-
I want to help get my child prepared for fall learning and understanding more about Schoology. Where can I learn more?
Great idea! Here is some information that will help to begin:
- Student Resources
- How to Log into Schoology Student Account - Grades K-12
- Getting Started on Schoology for Students
- Video - Overview of Schoology Student Experience
- Parent Resources
-
How will students be successfully oriented to online learning this fall?
AAPS will begin the school year with a set of Orientation Week activities. Students will be carefully and intentionally oriented to online learning this fall within the Schoology platform by teaching skills students will use in the daily online school environment such as:
- Teaching what Schoology is and how it will be used each day
- Where to click to get to the LIVE video class link each day
- How class is laid out on the Schoology screen
- How to participate each day in class
- How to communicate and respond
- How to get help
- How to upload photos of written work
-
If our family chooses A2 Student link, is it possible to change?
If you select A2 Student Link you can anticipate that your child will be in that program for the first semester. At the end of the first semester you can select another program choice or you can opt for your child to remain in A2 Student Link for Semester 2.
-
If our family chooses A2 Classroom Connect, will we be forced to send our child back to school in-person?
If you choose A2 Classroom Connect you will NOT be forced to send your child back to school in person. You will have the option of keeping your child home to continue their learning virtually via A2 Classroom Connect.
-
If our family is interested in A2 Virtual, where can we find out more information?
The elementary version of A2 Virtual is being developed using materials from Florida Virtual elementary programming. The latest information can be found at https://www.a2schools.org/Page/16203.
-
If our family wants to change the choice that they made (for example, chose A2 Student link and would now prefer A2 Classroom Connect), is this possible?
Please email your child's building principal with your request.
