Ms. Melissa Herskowitz
Señorita Herskowitz began teaching at Huron in 2016. She is from the San Francisco Bay Area but has lived to rural Arizona and also spent a year studying abroad in Extremadura, Spain. She graduated from the University of Michigan- Ann Arbor in 2015 with a B.A. in Spanish, English, and Secondary education. At U-M she also studied abroad in Valparaiso, Chile. She previous taught Spanish 1 and 3 at Novi High School before joining the Huron High School staff. In addition to being a teacher, she has worked teaching ESL abroad in Chile and doing college preparatory work with underrepresented minority students in Southfield and Highland Park Public Schools.
In her free time she enjoys spending time with her cat, Ophelia, and her friends. She loves to travel whenever possible and to explore new cultures. She plays clawhammer banjo and enjoys outdoor activities such as backpacking and hiking.
