Mr. Andrew Smith
Mr. Smith has taught German, History, and a few other subjects at Huron since September 1999. He also organizes the German American Partnership Program, which takes Huron students to Germany every other summer.
Andrew Smith has lived in Ann Arbor since 1972 and was an Ann Arbor Public Schools student, graduating from high school in 1981. He did undergraduate work at Valparaiso University, at the Pädagogische Hochschule Reutlingen, and at the University of Michigan, earning a B.A. in German and a B.A. in Philosophy in 1985.
He did further coursework at Washtenaw Community College and Eastern Michigan University, earning an M.B.A. from EMU's Business School, and an M.A. in German, in 1994.
He continued his studies in History at WCC, EMU, and the University of Wisconsin.
Mr. Smith enjoys teaching German for many reasons, including the fact that students go on to use their international language skills in engineering, finance, physics, chemistry, and life sciences.
He enjoys teaching History because we can only understand the present if we first understand the past.
