McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act

  • Students and families who lack fixed, regular, or adequate housing due to eviction, family conflict, natural disaster, or other reasons related to economic hardship are eligible for services provided by the Ann Arbor Public Schools as required by the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act. Students are eligible for services that remove barriers and support achievement, including:

    • Immediate or continued enrollment in school
    • Transportation assistance (students and families)
    • Free school meals, supplies, and resources
    • Academic support/ recovery
    • Fee waivers (for some AAPS programs)
    • Referrals to educational and community services

    A request for services may be initiated in the following ways:

    Residency details, enrollment status, and personally identifiable information are confidential and shared only with the school officials who have a legitimate educational interest.
